Nike Set To Replace Adidas

The German Football Federation (DFB), on Thursday, March 21, has decided to bring an end to the iconic 80+ years long partnership with Adidas, as the apex institution for football in Germany has signed Nike as its kit supplier. The deal with Nike will come in effect from 2027, and the deal will run till 2034. The deal has seen one of the most legendary kit partnerships come to an end, as Germany has achieved its laurels in an Adidas-manufactured kit and Adidas has produced one of the most iconic kits in football's history.

DFB's last deal with Adidas was signed in 2018, which means that Adidas will still be the kit manufacturer and supplier for the four-time FIFA World Cup winners at the Euro 2024, and the FIFA World Cup 2026.

As reported by The Athletic, the DFB personnel announced the deal and had the following to say:

“We are grateful to be able to look forward to an economically stable future again as an association thanks to Nike’s commitment,” said Stephan Grunwald, DFB Treasurer.

"Awarding a contract to our future kit supplier Nike is the result of a transparent and non-discriminatory tender procedure. Nike made by far the best financial offer and additionally impressed with the content of their vision, which also included a clear commitment to supporting amateur and grassroots sport, as well as the sustainable development of women’s football in Germany,” said Holger Blask, DFB Chairman.

“But one thing is also clear: Until December 2026, we will do everything we can to achieve shared success with our long-standing and current partner Adidas, to whom German football has owed a lot for more than seven decades,” said Bernd Neuendorf, DFB President.
