5 Phones That Can Survive Holi Splashes: Motorola Edge 40 Neo, Vivo X100, More

Holi is just around the corner and as fun and festive as this time of the year can be, it can prove to be a proper nightmare for our smartphones. Water and colours can both cause irreparable damage to our devices. For years, all of us used to carry our smartphones in layers of plastic just to keep them safe during the fun chaos of Holi. But with time, smartphone manufacturers have created smartphones that can handle some water and colour slam dunks. Wondering if your phone can take on water and dust in general and Holi in particular? Check its IP rating.

What Is IP Rating?

Ingress Protection rating or IP rating is a grade to measure a device’s resistance against liquid or dust intrusion. In simple terms, this shows how well a device stands a chance to survive after getting sprinkles, splashes, drunks or swims in water or dust.

For Holi, the rating that matters is an IP68 rating, which means your phone can survive in a maximum depth of up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes in freshwater, and protects it from dust without a case.

Once the preserve of only very high-end smartphones, the IP68 rating has now made its way down to slightly more affordable smartphones. Now, several smartphones across mid, upper-mid, and premium segments come with IP68 ratings.
